Ways to pay your rent 

Paying your rent and service charges on time is the most important responsibility of your tenancy agreement and is essential to keeping your home secure. Setting up a Direct Debit is by far the easiest and most stress free way to pay on time each month. It automatically withdraws your rent on your chosen date, helps avoid missing payments and provides a complete peace of mind so you can relax knowing that your rent is covered. To set up your Direct Debit, fill in a mandate form here.

We also offer alternative payment methods including:

• Paying online via My Account
• In person at the Post Office or PayPoint / Payzone locations
• Paying by telephone
  You can pay via our automated payment line available 24/7 or by calling us on 0300 365 1111 Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.

Rent arrears

If you fall behind on your rent payments, the amount you owe can build up over time. This may lead to legal action and, in some cases, put your home at risk. Paying your rent on time helps you avoid these issues, protect your credit score and reduce unnecessary stress.

If you are struggling to pay your rent, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting your Neighbourhood Services Officer directly, emailing us via enquiries@ovh.org.uk or calling us on 0300 365 1111.

We can also offer support and advice, such as:

• Helping you create a budget to manage your finances.
• Helping claim any benefits you may be entitled to.
• Helping you manage the cost of living through our support guide.

What if I don’t pay?

If your rent remains unpaid and you do not contact us, we may need to take legal action to recover the money owed. This could affect your credit score and may result in further action being taken to recover the debt.

If you owe more than £350 in rent or the debt has been outstanding for more than three years, we may have the right to end your lease and reclaim your property.
