Council Tax Energy Rebate: don’t miss out on £150

The Government recently announced support to help households who pay council tax in bands A to D, so you may be eligible for a one-off payment of £150 to support with rising energy bills.
It is advised that you also submit an energy reading to your gas and electric supplier before the 31st of March, before new rates come in on the 1st of April.

The band for your property should be listed on your council tax bill. You can also find out your council tax band on the Government’s website.

If you pay your council tax by direct debit, your council may intend to make payment into your bank account by the end of April 2022.

If you don’t pay by direct debit, your council should be in touch soon to request bank account details for the payment to be made.

Your council will determine a secure way for you to receive the payment made. This may include an option of crediting your account with £150

No, but there may be a discretionary scheme that you can apply for. Check with your council for more details.
