Tackling the rising fly-tipping issues in our alleyways

Published: 2/4/2025

We’re committed to improving the condition of our alleyways and addressing the challenges of fly-tipping, which impacts the safety and well-being of our community. To tackle this issue, we’ve launched our Alleyway Clearance strategy.

Our Neighbourhood Services team alongside the Customer Voice Team, Director of Housing and Customer Service, Paula Robinson and Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of Housing, will be visiting significantly affected areas to clear these unwanted items.

Our partner, Sovini Waste Solutions, has generously donated skips to ensure the safe and proper disposal of unwanted items. We will also be equipped with litter pickers to remove smaller debris.

Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue, members of Sefton Council and Councillors will be in attendance assisting with this initiative. We’re inviting the community and local customers to join us in these clean ups, fostering a collaborative approach to creating cleaner and safer communities,

Beyond the clean-up, we will also be engaging with customers to gather valuable feedback though our “Doorstep Survey”.  This survey will help us understand the root cause of fly-tipping, identify desired improvements for our alleyways, and more essential feedback and insights.

Our goal is to create lasting change and ensure our alleyways remain clean and safe for everyone. We believe that through community collaboration and proactive measures, we can significantly reduce fly-tipping incidents.

Let’s keep our community clean

We encourage everyone to play a part in keeping our community clean and safe. Fly-tipping not only creates unsightly and unsafe conditions but also poses health risks, attracting pests and obstructing access.

If you witness a fly-tipping incident, please report it confidentially to our team at 0300 365 1111 or submit a report HERE.
