Training to upskill employees given the green light in support of net-zero carbon commitment

One Vision Housing’s employees will receive training designed to support the delivery of retrofit energy efficiency programmes in a Green Skills Bootcamp, thanks to a £40k grant from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

The 16-week bootcamp, delivered by The Learning Foundry, will provide One Vision Housing’s employees with skills to reduce the energy consumption of homes across topics including asset management, retrofit and domestic energy assessment.

One Vision Housing is part of The Sovini Group, a unique housing, construction, property and facilities supply chain that has made a commitment to reduce its environmental impact.

In 2022/23 the housing association invested over £3.4m into a retrofit project aimed to improve the carbon efficiency of existing homes, and £29.3m into building 157 new homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) standard of B.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director at One Vision Housing said: “We are committed to providing our customers with homes that are fit for the future. This funding will give our colleagues the knowledge and skills needed to drive our commitment forward, as we aim to build a better future for communities across the North West.”

Paula Robinson, Interim Chief People and Communications Officer at The Sovini Group said: “We are dedicated to creating opportunities and changing lives for our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve. We have taken decisive action to tackle our carbon footprint and thanks to this grant from Liverpool City Region Housing Associations, our colleagues will benefit from valuable professional development, enabling us to accelerate action towards our goal of net-zero carbon.”

Commenting on the grant Claire Lee, Managing Director at The Learning Foundry, said: “This funding will enable us to support One Vision Housing to reduce skills gaps and fulfil retrofit projects quickly and efficiently. Our range of talent solutions are designed to support the housing sector to adapt to meet current challenges including retrofit targets, talent attraction and retention and customer satisfaction.”
