What an incredible day we had recently at our Southport Action Day, focusing on the Canning Road, Victory Avenue, and Wavell Avenue estates! This Day of Action forms part of our ongoing Alleyway Strategic Action Plan to improve alleyways and neighbourhoods across our communities. It was truly heartening to see our community come together, and we want to extend a massive thank you to all our amazing volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to making a tangible difference.

Our day kicked off with teams spreading out across the estates, knocking on doors and chatting with our customers. We conducted important surveys to gather feedback on anti-social behaviour (ASB) and other neighbourhood issues. We’re thrilled to report that the overwhelming sentiment was positive, with customers highlighting their strong, close-knit community and very few concerns regarding ASB. This positive feedback is a testament to the strong community spirit in Southport, and we also ensured that every customer knew exactly how to report any future issues directly to One Vision Housing.

A significant part of the day involved helping residents with garden clear-ups. We noticed several properties with accumulated rubbish, and we were able to encourage residents to utilize the skips we had on-site. For those who faced challenges due to health issues, our dedicated One Vision Housing staff stepped in, offering a helping hand to remove items from properties and gardens and transport them to the skips. It’s these moments of direct support that truly embody our commitment to our residents.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was meeting customer Mr. Thomas who was celebratig his 84th birthday, and he was full of praise for One Vision Housing! A few of our team members had the pleasure of clearing his back garden, a task he was unable to manage himself. It was a small gesture that clearly made a big difference to him, and it was an honour to help celebrate his special day in such a practical way.

Overall, our Southport Action Day was a fantastic success. Our customers were genuinely happy to see us present in their community, actively working to improve their surroundings. A huge thank you once again to everyone who came along and contributed to such a positive and impactful day. We’re already looking forward to our next community action event!
