One Vision Housing supporting Antisocial Behaviour Awareness Week 2025

Published: 1/6/2025

Today marks the start of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2025, and we’re dedicating each day this week to shedding light on the different types of ASB and the support available. Today, we want to share with you what we do to combat ASB and highlight a recent success story from the Wirral, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to creating safer, more peaceful communities.

At One Vision Housing, we are dedicated to taking decisive actions against anti-social behaviour, working hand-in-hand with our customers, partners, and local communities. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels safe and respected in their homes and neighbourhoods.

OVH’s Commitment: Our Community Safety Team

We’re dedicated to actively tackling anti-social behaviour alongside our customers, local partners, and the communities we serve. This commitment helps us build safer, more peaceful communities, and we will continue to use every resource available to ensure our customers feel secure in their homes.

OVH has a dedicated Community Safety Team which deals primarily with high-level anti-social behaviour and supports the wider Neighbourhood Services Team with lower-level investigations. We also work in strong partnership with a number of key agencies such as the Police, Fire Service, and Local Authorities across our properties.

In 2024/25, OVH received 407 reports of ASB, which included a wide range of issues such as:

  • Criminal Behaviour / Crime
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Drugs / Drug Misuse
  • Hate Crime
  • Noise
  • Pets / Animal Misuse
  • Physical Violence
  • Threats / Abuse to staff
  • Vandalism / damage to property
  • Verbal / Harassment / Intimidation

During that period, we are proud to report that 93% of customers stated they were satisfied with the handling of their report. This high satisfaction rate reflects our team’s dedication and effectiveness in resolving ASB issues.

A case study from Wirral: From conflict to community

We’re dedicated to taking decisive actions against anti-social behaviour in collaboration with our customers, partners and communities.

This year in Wirral, we took decisive action against anti social behaviour, where we took strong action resulting in a positive outcome for the community. Working closely with Wirral Borough Council, we secured a closure order on a property that was the source of significant (ASB) for the neighbours.

Initial reports indicated frequent disturbances, with numerous individuals visiting the property throughout the day and night. When we visited the property, it was clear that activities were happening that were causing significant concern to those living nearby.

We acted quickly and took a multi-faceted approach to address the issue. First, we offered support to the customer and connected them with Wirral Ways, a fantastic local support agency. We also held partnership meetings to tackle the wider issues of illegal substance use in the area.

Recognising the impact on neighbouring residents, we developed action plans with six properties, enhancing their security and gathering information to support the case. Residents reported feeling scared and vulnerable due to the constant activity at the problem property.

As the situation escalated, with frequent police visits and further deterioration of the property, including signs of unsafe items and unauthorised access to a vacant flat below, we took decisive legal action.

Working closely with Wirral Council, we gathered statements from residents and Merseyside Police, and submitted an application for a closure order. The court granted the order, resulting in the property being closed for three months. Following this, the customer voluntarily terminated their tenancy, allowing us to begin the process of re-letting the property.

Local residents expressed their gratitude for the collaborative effort, which brought much-needed relief from the ASB they had endured.
