One Vision Housing sponsor Adopt a Buddy initiative to help local veterans

Published: 2/11/2021

One Vision Housing (OVH), part of The Sovini Group, have recently provided a £1500 donation to support Veterans HQ initiative to help local veterans in need.

As part of the Adopt a Buddy scheme, Veterans HQ will look to recruit and train over a dozen veteran buddies, providing them with the tools they need to offer a unique holistic support service for ex-armed forces personnel, reservists and their families.

The scheme will also work to support vulnerable and older people, promote healthy lifestyles, provide informal learning opportunities, and provide provisions for young people via Veterans HQ family support programme.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director for One Vision Housing, said:

“As part of The Sovini Group we remain committed to supporting the Armed Forces community wherever possible. Through our partnership with Veterans HQ we hope to provide invaluable support to our local veterans whilst promoting our vision to create thriving, inclusive communities.”

Bob Blanchard of Veterans HQ said:

“The Veterans HQ Adopt a Buddy scheme is a unique way for organisations and businesses who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant to support us and the work we do in delivering support and practical assistance for vulnerable veterans, reservists and their families. We would like to thank One Vision Housing for their generous donation, and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership to support veterans in our community.”

As part of The Sovini Group, OVH has a long-standing relationship with the Armed Forces community and was the first housing group in the country to be awarded the Gold Award by the Armed Forces Covenant in 2018. To mark Remembrance Day on 11th November, The Sovini Group and OVH will hold a special quayside service at Salthouse Dock. Beginning at 10:30am with the arrival of the Group’s community canal boat, the Pride of Sefton, the service will be attended by members of the Armed Forces and will feature a pipe band and bugler to help mark the ceremony.
