New apartments set to help Wirral residents onto the property ladder

Published: 4/4/2022

Saving to buy a home can be difficult and sometimes feels completely out of reach – but that isn’t the case, thanks to a new Rent to Buy scheme coming to Birkenhead this summer.

Located just a two-minute walk from Birkenhead town centre, our new development (named Conway Point) will be home to 46 new apartments.

A modern living experience

Conway Point’s one- and two-bedroom apartments have been designed with modern living in mind and feature contemporary kitchens and bathrooms, intercom security systems and integrated bike stores.

Apartments will feature environmentally efficient specifications, including toilets, taps, showers, and light fittings designed to reduce running costs for residents.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of Housing said:

“We are driven by our purpose to create opportunities and change lives, and look forward to seeing inclusive, thriving communities blossom here in Birkenhead, as we welcome customers into their new affordable, quality homes.”

  • What is rent to buy and how does it work?

Rent to Buy is a government scheme designed to help you transition from renting a property, to buying a home.

Through the scheme, you will benefit from affordable rent (around 20% less than the market price), meaning you can save towards a deposit to buy the apartment you live in through Shared Ownership or an outright purchase.

  • How much will it cost to live at Conway Point?

Prices start from £420 per month for one-bedroom, and from £500 per month for two-bedroom apartments.

  • Am I eligible for the scheme?

You may be eligible for a Rent to Buy property if you:

    • Are a first-time buyer
    • Used to own a home, but can’t afford to buy one now
    • Have a good credit history
    • Have a household income of £60,000 per year or less (this includes you and anyone you will live with, including a partner or friend)

The development is due for completion during the summer of 2022 and show home dates are to be announced soon.

Please note that rental prices are correct at time of publishing (April 2022).
