Merseyside communities receive over £20k worth of food and Christmas treats donated by OVH

One Vision Housing (OVH) gave Merseyside communities a much needed boost this Christmas by donating pallets full of food, personal care items and toys valued at over £20k.
After previously making donations to local communities earlier this year in response to the coronavirus pandemic, OVH have partnered again with the HIS Church charity to deliver over £20k worth of food, personal care items and toys to support Merseyside residents over the Christmas season.
From cupboard essentials like cereal, rice and pasta to luxury biscuits, personal care items and a selection of Mattel toys, a variety of items have been donated by OVH to partner organisations to help improve the lives of vulnerable residents.
St Leonard’s Church Foodbank, Southport Foodbank and Wirral Foodbank are amongst those to have received donations from OVH and are all seeded by The Trussel Trust, who recently reported an increase in foodbank usage with 1.2m food parcels given to people in crisis from April – September 2020.
New Start Homes, who deliver a diverse range of homelessness projects designed to help some of the most complex and disadvantaged groups across Merseyside, also received a pallet of food and personal care items.
Dianne Eastaway, Area Manager for New Start Homes, said:
“The pallet we received from OVH is absolutely fabulous and could not have come at a better time. These items will make such a difference to our service users, some of whom arrive having been on the streets or even living in the woods. There are currently about 40 people using our services, some with very complex needs, and it’s wonderful to be able to provide them with lovely smelling products to help them maintain their own personal hygiene. Thank you so much for these wonderful gifts.”
Ian Mitchell, Managing Director for One Vision Housing, said:
“At One Vision Housing we have continued to develop strong links with local partner organisations throughout the year to help improve the lives of our customers and the neighbourhoods in which they live. These donations support our vision to create thriving, inclusive communities by providing valuable help to those who need it most during the Christmas season.”
Other partner organisations of OVH who have received donations include Brunswick Youth & Community Centre, Netherton Park Community Association, The Salvation Army Bootle, Liverpool Veterans, Sefton Community Pantry and Sefton Opera.
