Local schoolchildren take a stand against fly-tipping

Published: 3/11/2026

We’re passionate about keeping our communities clean and green for everyone to enjoy. Following the success of last year’s campaign, we teamed up with Sefton Council once again to expand our School Environmental & Cleaner Communities Project.

Over recent months, we visited primary schools across South Sefton to talk to pupils about the impact of litter, fly-tipping and dog fouling on local communities, while highlighting the importance of recycling and looking after the environment.

The project aimed to inspire children to take pride in their neighbourhoods and encourage positive behaviours that can make a lasting difference. We delivered interactive sessions at Thomas Gray, Bedford Road, St Robert Bellarmine, St Philip’s, Kings Leader, St Monica’s and Linacre Primary Schools.

Campaigning for Cleaner Alleyways

As part of the project, pupils took part in an anti-fly-tipping poster competition, using their creativity to design eye-catching messages encouraging people to dispose of waste responsibly.

We’re delighted to share that the winning designs have now been transformed into outdoor signs and installed on alleyway gates across South Sefton. These colourful posters help spread an important message while celebrating the young people who helped create them.

Neil Kenwright, Head of Housing at One Vision Housing, shared his thoughts on the project’s impact:

“We’re striving for visibly cleaner and tidier neighbourhoods, and engaging with our local schoolchildren is a crucial part of our ‘Three Es’ framework to Educate, Engage, and Enforce. By teaching the next generation about responsible waste disposal, we are working together to achieve a meaningful, long-term reduction in fly-tipping and a better future for everyone.”

Help keep your community clean

These posters represent the voices of local chidlren who care about their communities and want to see cleaner, safer neighbourhoods for everyone to enjoy.

Before dumping waste illegally, think about the children who have worked hard to create these messages and who deserve to grow up in a clean and welcoming environment.

If you witness fly-tipping or illegal waste disposal, please report it. All reports can be made in confidence and help us take action against those responsible. Find out how to report fly-tipping and dispose of waste responsibly HERE.
