Kirkstone Road’s litter problem gets a new solution

Published: 2/10/2024

One Vision Housing have joined forces with Sefton Council to address the ongoing issue of fly-tipping and littering in Kirkstone Road North, Litherland. The area has long struggled with illegal dumping of waste, primarily due to the curb side bin bag collection system.

To combat this problem, One Vision Housing and Sefton Council have carefully planned and implemented a new bin store behind the apartment block. This solution will replace the curb side bin bag collection, aiming to significantly reduce fly-tipping and improve the overall appearance of the area.

Councillors Liz Dowd, Ian Moncur, Paulette Lappin expressed their collective optimism about the project, stating:

“If this solution works here and reduces fly-tipping, improves the look and feel of the area, we can consider something similar in other hot spot areas.”

Neil Kenwright, Head of Neighbourhood Services at One Vision Housing added:

“We are committed to tackling fly-tipping in our neighbourhoods. By providing more accessible waste disposal options, we’re hoping to deter people from illegally dumping their rubbish. We are hopefully this is a proactive step towards creating a better future for our communities.”

One Vision Housing and Sefton Council anticipate that this new arrangement will bring substantial benefits to the Kirkstone Road community. By providing a more convenient and secure method for waste disposal, the bin store provision is expected to discourage illegal dumping and create a cleaner, more pleasant environment for customers.
