Construction starts on new affordable housing development in Wrenbury

Work has started on a new affordable housing development off Station Road in Wrenbury, delivered by The Sovini Group’s commercial supply chain for partner One Vision Housing.
Nestled in the heart of the countryside, 45 new homes surrounded by relaxing green spaces and a natural pond, are set to support local people onto the property ladder through affordable home ownership schemes.
The development, named Kingfisher Park, is being delivered as part of the Group’s development programme, which aims to build a better future through the creation of circa 1,000 high quality, affordable homes over the next five years.
In addition to Affordable Rent tenures, two affordable home ownership schemes will also be on offer.
Through a Shared Ownership scheme local people will be able to buy a share of a new home with a smaller mortgage and a reduced deposit – allowing them to increase the percentage owned over time, until they reach 100%. For those without a deposit, the housing association’s Rent to Buy scheme will allow residents to save towards a deposit to buy the home they live in through Shared Ownership or an outright purchase, thanks to rent being priced around 20% less than market value.
Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of Housing said:
“We are thrilled to announce that One Vision Housing is expanding its housing stock in the highly sought-after area of Wrenbury in Cheshire. Kingfisher Park is delivering on our vision of a better future, as we create opportunities and change lives by helping local people to get onto the property ladder.”
Homes at Kingfisher Park have been designed with modern living in mind by architects JMA, with air source heat pumps helping end users to reduce energy consumption in line with The Sovini Group’s net-zero carbon commitment.
Built by Sovini Construction and the Group’s commercial supply chain, the construction process will also take a fabric first approach in order to prioritise sustainability and energy efficiency – compliant with guidance on conservation of fuel and power outlined in Part L of The Building Regulations.
James Flannery, Director of Construction and Land commented:
“We are excited to be delivering another housing development for One Vision Housing with the support of our [The Sovini] Group’s unique integrated supply chain. Kingfisher Park is a key milestone in our net-zero carbon commitment, as our first non-gas development that will use air source heat pumps as an alternative provision.”
He added:
“As with all of our developments, we will prioritise economic, environmental and social value measures to ensure we positively impact the local community.”
The first release of homes at the development is scheduled for 2024 and early registration is now open.
