Income affected by COVID restrictions? Get help with your water bill

Published: 2/3/2021

United Utilities is appealing for customers who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 to get in touch so they can help.

Their ‘Back on Track’ scheme is aimed at customers whose income has been affected by COVID restrictions and either receive benefits or have a household income of less than £21,000.

Jane Haymes, affordability manager at United Utilities said:

“We know that many of our customers have already been impacted by coronavirus and even more will be affected by the current lockdown.

“Our Back on Track scheme is a way we can help those customers who need our support the most by reducing their annual bill.

“Even if you don’t meet our criteria for the Back on Track scheme there are other ways we can make your water bills more affordable until these restrictions are eventually lifted so please call us if you’re struggling with your bills.”

For further details about the scheme download the application pack here.

To apply, customers can either return the application form included in the pack or compete the online affordability form here.

Customers can also call the affordability team at United Utilities on 0800 072 6765 to apply.

Receive the warm home energy discount? Save on your water bill too.

If you receive the warm home energy discount, then United Utilities is encouraging you to get in touch as it’s likely you’ll be eligible for a reduction in your water bill too.

Their Help to Pay scheme is specifically aimed at customers who are receiving Pension Credit and are having difficulties paying their bill.

There are two levels to the scheme depending on whether you live alone or with other people in the household:

  • If you live alone they will reduce your annual water bill to £255
  • If you live with other people in the household (who also receive Pension Credit or state pension) your water bill will be reduced to £360

So if your existing water bill is currently higher than what you’ll pay on their Help to Pay scheme  and you receive Pension Credit then don’t miss out – give them a call on 0800 072 6765 or apply online here and start saving money today.
