Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2025: A Year of Action and Impact!

Published: 5/7/2025

As Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week draws to a close, we’re proud to reflect on a year of dedicated effort and positive impact in our communities. We’ve been taking firm action to build a better future for our customers, and the results speak for themselves.

Taking Firm Action Against Anti-Social Behaviour

We are demonstrating our commitment to creating a better future for our customers and communities by taking decisive action against anti-social behaviour (ASB). Recent figures highlight our proactive approach and the positive outcomes in our neighbourhoods.

Positive action

We are taking positive action against ASB. During April 2024- March 2025 our teams have handled 356 new reports of ASB with 249 cases successfully resolved.

We pride ourselves on our customer-focused approach, with 92.6% of surveyed customers expressing satisfaction with the case handling process and 90.5% happy with the final outcome. Furthermore, we ensure all reports of ASB receive a response within 24 hours, demonstrating our dedication to creating safe communities.

Legal action for community safety

To tackle serious cases of ASB, we have utilised a range of legal tools. In the past 12 months this has included:

  • 5 Outright Possession Orders – a court order that gives a landlord the right to take possession of a property from a tenant.
  • 1 Suspended Possession Order – when a judge decides a tenant can stay in their home as long as they keep to conditions or terms detailed on the order.
  • 3 Ex Parte Injunctions – allows a landlord to seek an immediate court order without notifying the tenant.
  • 4 Full ASB Injunctions – civil orders that can be issued to prevent someone from engaging in or threatening to engage in anti-social behaviour.
  • 1 Committal for breach of ASB Injunction – a person can be sent to prison for up to two years if they violate the terms of the injunction.
  • 1 Closure Order – prohibits access to the premises for a specified period.

These results demonstrate our commitment to working in partnership with residents and local authorities to tackle ASB and create safer communities. We will continue to utilise all available resources to address concerns and ensure residents feel safe and secure in their homes.

Visible in Our Neighbourhoods: A Day of Action in Formby

Just yesterday, as part of our ongoing commitment to community safety, our team conducted a successful day of action at Chindit Close. Colleagues Andrew and Kevin were instrumental in organising door-to-door enquiries, following recent incidents in the area. This proactive engagement allowed us to inform customers about what anti-social behaviour is, how to report it, and the various support services available to them.

This initiative aimed to enhance our visibility in the neighbourhood, demonstrating our dedication to supporting customers and creating safe and pleasant living environments. We believe that areas like Chindit Close thrive when customers feel connected and informed, and we hope this proactive effort reinforces that sense of community.

This day of action is a key component of our Alleyway Strategic Action Plan, which reflects our commitment to creating thriving communities and ensuring the well-being of our customers and local residents. The plan is designed to engage and educate our communities, while also enabling us to enforce regulations. This includes implementing enhanced surveillance to monitor and deter fly-tipping, and taking legal action against those responsible for such issues.
