Taking a stand against fly-tipping

Published: 5/9/2025

Our dedicated here at One Vision Housing team, working in partnership with local councillors and Sefton Council staff, recently held an action day at Kirkstone Road in Litherland. This event was a crucial part of our ongoing programme to tackle fly-tipping and promote a greater sense of community pride.

The real cost of fly-tipping

Fly-tipping isn’t just an eye core, it’s and illegal offense with far-reaching consequences. It creates a breeding ground for pests, can contain hazardous materials, and poses a danger to children and pets.

Beyond the immediate risks, it erodes a community’s pride in where they live, making an area feel neglected and unsafe. The costs of clearing up illegally dumped waste divert valuable resources that could be used for other vital neighbourhood improvements.

Working together

To encourage residents to dispose of large, unwanted items responsibly, we provided a free skip. It was fantastic to see so many residents make use of this service, actively helping to keep their neighbourhood clean. Our team also engaged with locals, offering guidance and connecting them with other support services.

The day concluded with a collective litter pick, leaving the area visibly tidier and showcasing the positive impact we can have when we work together. A huge thank you to everyone who helped plan and execute this successful day.

By working together, we can continue to make our neighbourhoods cleaner, safer, and places we can all be proud of.
