Partnership delivers 1,000 affordable homes for Sefton
Published: 1/12/2025
We are delighted to announce a significant collaboration with Sefton Council – The Sefton Home 2030 Initiative – which is set to deliver over 1000 high-quality affordable homes by the end of 2030.
This initiative is not just a development project but a commitment towards addressing the critical need for affordable housing and providing a better future for Sefton residents. To make this vision a reality, we are combining council-owned land, including former school and community sites, along with The Sovini Group’s development pipeline.
For the first stage of delivery, we are moving forward with approximately 400 homes across eight sites in Bootle, Southport, Netherton, Seaforth and Formby. Leveraging our position as part of The Sovini Group, we are simultaneously progressing plans to develop an additional 600 homes. This development programme is supported by our integrated supply chain, guaranteeing uncompromised quality from start to finish.
Councillor Marion Atkinson, Leader of Sefton Council, shed some light on their purpose behind this initiative:
“This partnership is about more than just building homes—it’s about building futures. There is a huge need for affordable housing in Sefton and by addressing that problem it will get people out of temporary accommodation and into safe, healthy homes that will improve their quality of life. At the same time, it will reduce the costs to the Council for expensive temporary accommodation. We are committed to ensuring that every development delivers real value for our residents, with not just affordable housing but also jobs and training opportunities for local people.”
Roy Williams, Chief Executive of The Sovini Group, highlighted the value of pooling local resources and reinvesting within the community:
“We’re proud to work alongside Sefton Council to deliver homes through the Group’s end-to-end supply chain. Collaboratively we can ensure value for money, local opportunities, and the sustainability of Sefton.
The Sovini Group’s unique model, which provides a robust housing solution, enables us to reinvest all commercial profits throughout the partnership back into Sefton – focusing on Sefton Council’s priorities and the development of more affordable homes locally.”
An investment with a purpose
