Our Independent Living Service has been working collectively to help over 900 customers live safely and independently in their own homes during the lockdown period. Through our support of shielding programmes, we have been able to help those without any support network in place to access essential services like shopping, food delivery, prescription services and befriending.

Our retirement housing customers continue to benefit from living in a safe environment, with regular daily contact from our staff to check on their welfare. The feedback we have received from customers is that this contact has helped them to remain in their homes with the assurance that they are safe and have access to everything they need.

Brenda O’Farrell, Independent Living Officer for One Vision Housing, said:

We have been working hard to keep customers up to date on what’s happening locally and have provided a listening ear when they have needed to talk to someone.  As a team we have used our collective knowledge and connections with partnership agencies to provide information on what’s available and happening locally in order to support customers through this challenging time. We want customers to know we are together on this journey and assure them that we are only ever at the end of the phone to help and offer advice, if and when needed.
