One Vision Housing’s Decade-Long Commitment to the Armed Forces Community

Published: 2/10/2025

One Vision Housing is immensely proud to be reaccredited with a Gold Covenant status; an honour achieved as part of The Sovini Group—the only housing Group in the country to receive this prestigious recognition again.

Our commitment is a decade-long dedication, being reaccredited every five years, in support and advocacy for those who serve or have served and their families. We understand the unique challenges the Armed Forces community can face, from finding suitable housing to securing meaningful employment.

Working closely with local partners, such as Veterans HQ and Veterans in Sefton, we have provided vital housing opportunities to veterans and their families who were at risk of homelessness. This collaboration provides a supported route out of crisis, offering not just a house, but ongoing support to ensure long-term stability.

We are also committed to employing veterans, recognising the exceptional skills, discipline, and leadership they bring. As part of this commitment, we also offer a volunteer placement programme to support veterans transitioning into civilian employment, with some going on to secure permanent roles within The Sovini Group. In addition to guaranteeing all service men and women who meet an essential job vacancy criteria at application, to interview stage.

Furthermore, we actively champion our reservist employees, providing support that includes an additional 10 days of paid leave for training and unlimited unpaid leave if mobilised, ensuring they can serve their country without professional disadvantage.

Our covenant journey is now set to be powered even further by passionate individuals who bridge the gap between service and civilian life.

Ann Owens, Gold Covenant Lead, has dedicated over 47 years to public service, bringing a wealth of experience to this crucial role. As the heart behind our Armed Forces commitment, she ensures we connect with those who need support most. Ann is also a proud Trustee of Veterans HQ, where her dedication makes a real, on-the-ground difference.

Ann says: “I am proud to be advocating for those who have given so much. Supporting the Armed Forces community isn’t just part of my job, it’s a cause I hold close to my heart. We have a moral obligation to ensure veterans, and their families are not disadvantaged by their service, and I’ll continue to champion this mission for as long as I can make a difference.”

Working closely alongside Ann is Kate Joynson, Armed Forces Engagement Representative. As a British Army Reservist in training, Kate brings a valuable perspective and passion to championing the value of our service community. She is focused on raising awareness of the wide range of pathways, support, and opportunities available across One Vision Housing and The Sovini Group.

Kate adds: “I am delighted to be part of a Group that not only supports my ambition of becoming a Reservist but also gives me a vital advocacy role to support present and past service men and women.”

To further our commitment, we have recently joined a pilot scheme with the Liverpool City Region, called Valour, spearheaded by Steve Rotheram. Working hand in hand with the government to deliver easier access to care and support as this initiative connects housing, employment and health services.
