Neil’s Vision for Clearer Alleyways
Published: 1/6/2025
Last month saw the launch of our Alleyway Strategic Action Plan, a vital initiative designed to combat the persistent issue of fly-tipping. This crucial project has been managed and maintained by Neil Kenwright, Head of Housing at One Vision Housing, who is personally invested in transforming these spaces for the better.
Neil is passionate about working with our valued customers and key partners, Sefton Council and Sovini Waste Solutions, to ensure that the alleyways most impacted are not only cleared but, crucially, stay clear long term.
Here’s what Neil has to say about this vital mission and his vision for a cleaner, safe community:
What are your hopes for the Alleyway Strategic Action Plan?
“We’re striving for visibly cleaner and tidier neighbourhoods, with a particular focus on improving our alleyways. Our core mission is to increase customer satisfaction by addressing key concerns. The plan is based on our ‘Three Es’ framework: Engagement with the community, Education on responsible waste disposal, and appropriate Enforcement of regulations. Our ultimate hope is to achieve a meaningful and long-term decrease in fly-tipping incidents, leading to a positive change in community behaviour and attitudes.”
What difference have you seen to the neighbourhoods visited by the Alleyway Strategic Action Plan?
“We’ve seen a drastic improvement in the neighbourhoods and alleyways we’ve visited through the Alleyway Strategic Action Plan! It’s been absolutely fantastic to witness the hard work of everyone involved and the positive impact it’s had on customer satisfaction. We’re thrilled that people are really noticing the difference. In fact, when we’ve chatted with customers in those areas, they’ve told us it’s truly enhanced their neighbourhood, which is just wonderful to hear!”
How does it feel to see customer’s alleyways and neighbourhoods transformed?
“Seeing the positive changes we’ve already brought to some of your alleyways and neighbourhoods feels fantastic and makes me incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved so far. But we know we’re only just getting started! There’s more work to do, and it’s a shared effort to ensure these areas stay in a great condition that we can all be proud of. It’s truly disheartening when the irresponsible actions of a few spoil things for the many. We know most of our customers in these areas are brilliant, long-term residents who love their homes – aside from the fly-tipping, of course. We’re committed to tackling these problems head-on so you can all get back to fully enjoying your neighbourhoods.”
What can customers do to support the Clearance and continued the upkeep?
“The most important thing is to dispose of your rubbish and unwanted items responsibly to prevent unsightly and often harmful messes in our shared spaces. Also, if you see fly-tipping happening, or know of an incident, please let us know. Your reports are incredibly helpful in tackling this issue. The entire One Vision Housing Team and I want all our customers to enjoy their homes and neighbourhoods, so let’s work together to keep your neighbourhoods completely fly-tipping free!”
Let’s keep our communities clean
We encourage everyone to play a part in keeping our community clean and safe. Fly-tipping not only creates unsightly and unsafe conditions but also poses health risks, attracting pests and obstructing access.
If you witness a fly-tipping incident, please report it confidentially to our team at 0300 365 1111 or submit a report HERE.
