Furnishing Care Leavers independence

Published: 1/11/2025

At One Vision Housing, we are deeply committed to supporting Care Leavers in their transition to independence through our Roots Service. Transitioning from care is a significant milestone, we are dedicated to helping furnish and decorate their new houses to make them a true home.

House to Home

Our Roots service offers a vital ‘house to home’ packages to our Sefton Care Leavers, focusing on essential items and a comfortable living environment.

Our support includes:

  • Full flooring and blinds – We provide and fit full flooring and blinds throughout the property, where required, ensuring privacy and comfort.
  • Household essentials – We assist with a range of crucial household items such as microwaves, kettles, toasters, full dinner sets and bedding and linens.

For white goods such as fridges and washing machines, we actively support the Care Leaver by applying for grants through key partners, including Southport & Birkdale Provident or ELAS.

Decoration Packs

To ensure Care Leavers can personalise their new space, we provide Decoration Packs. These standard painting packs offer any selected colour to freshen up their new property, giving them control and a sense of ownership over their environment.

Accessing the Roots Service

Access to the Roots Service is obtained through referral directly to the Roots team by either their Personal Advisor or Social worker.

We are proud of the impact the Roots Service has already made. We have successfully assisted 14 care leavers with our house to home offer, and we are committed to continuing our support.
