This project wasn’t just about modernising the look of the buildings, it was a top-to-bottom upgrade designed to keep your homes warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and significantly cheaper to run.

Feedback

The most important measure of any project’s success is the feedback from those who live there. We spoke to some of our customers to see how these improvements have changed their day-to-day lives:

John and Christine, who have lived in their home for 24 years, said:

“We have already seen an impact, our energy bills have gone down during the winter as our home was much warmer. It’s also been lovely and cool during the warmer weather. We love the new rendering too.”

Elizabeth, who returned to the area 10 years ago, added:

“The whole thing is wonderful, we are really happy with it. Our rooms are a lot warmer, you can definitely tell the difference.”

Improvements made

Working alongside The Sovini Group and supported by funding from Sefton Council, we took a “fabric first” approach. This means we focused on the building’s exterior to ensure heat stays inside where it belongs. Key upgrades include:

• High-quality external rendering that acts like a thermal blanket for the building.

• We installed low-carbon heating, smart meters to help you track your energy use, and even electric vehicle charging points.

• Comprehensive fire safety works and professional asbestos removal were carried out to ensure every home meets the highest safety standards.

• We are proud to report that 100% of the construction waste was recycled, and all materials were sourced locally to support our community.

The success at Thackeray and Galsworthy Gardens is just the beginning. Following this project, we have identified even more homes across our neighbourhoods that are eligible for similar upgrades.
