Community comes together for Poets Park Family Fun Day
Published: 3/8/2025
Bootle’s Poets Park was buzzing with excitement last week, as hundreds of local residents came together for the Poets Partnership Family Fun Day. The event, which celebrated community spirit and collaborative working, was a huge success.
For us, the day was about more than just fun; it was also about delivering an important message on waste prevention and sustainability. Our Neighbourhood Services team was on hand to engage residents, promoting the importance of proper waste management and educating families on the negative impacts of littering and fly-tipping. We believe in taking a proactive approach to these issues, and this event was a fantastic way to support our residents and our community.
This event aligns directly with the Alleyway Strategic Action plan we launched earlier this year in partnership with Sefton Council, which focuses on tackling fly-tipping and improving communal spaces for everyone.
Neil Kenwright, Head of Neighbourhood Services at One Vision Housing, said:
“We’re proud to support events like the Poets Park Fun Day. It’s a great way to engage with residents with our waste prevention message, whilst promoting sustainability, and strengthening our community ties.”
The fun day was a true collaborative effort, made possible by the Poets Partnership. We were proud be a part of this event alongside Sefton Council, Plus Dane Housing, Riverside, Prima Group, and Crosby Housing Association. This powerful partnership demonstrates how local organisations can work together to bring people together for a great cause.
Attendees enjoyed a range of activities, including bouncy inflatables, a penalty shootout, and music from a lively DJ. Families also tucked into delicious food and explored a variety of stalls. Other partners contributed to the day’s success, with Crosby Housing Association supplying free pre-loved school uniforms and Sefton Council’s Early Years team entertaining young children with drawing activities and valuable advice for parents.
Councillor Peter Harvey, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene, said:
“It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the park, connecting with neighbours, and getting involved in the conversation about looking after our community. Events like this show the power of partnership working, bringing people together for fun while also inspiring positive change.”
We are committed to building thriving and inclusive communities, and the incredible turnout at the Poets Park Family Fun Day reinforces the shared vision we have with our partners. We look forward to the next event with our partners, and by working together on initiatives like this and our waste prevention message, we can create lasting, positive change for our communities.
