Transforming a fly-tipping hotspot into a vibrant community garden
Published: 4/11/2024
One Vision Housing (OVH), in partnership with Merseyside Police, has successfully transformed a former fly-tipping hotspot into a thriving community garden as part of the EVOLVE project.
The initiative, which aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, involved the creation of a community garden on Chester Avenue. The garden was designed not only to improve the area but also to create a sense of community and discourage criminal activity.
“We are committed to combating fly-tipping and building a better future for our communities,” said Neil Kenwright, Head of Housing at One Vision Housing
“This project is a testament to our close relationships with Netherton Park Community Centre, Brabners, and Chris White from Sefton Council, who chairs the EVOLVE Park Lane group. Together, we are working to transform a neglected area into a beautiful and functional space.”
A significant portion of the expenditure covered legal fees, including the signing of a lease transferring ownership to Netherton Park Community Centre (NPCC). Additionally, voucher support worth £750 was provided to further enhance the garden and its community benefits.
We want our customers to feel proud of their community and safe in their homes. By repurposing a neglected space and involving the local community, OVH, Merseyside Police, and Sefton Council have demonstrated the power of partnership in creating positive change.
