Supporting Care Leavers with our new Roots service

We understand that the transition from care to independent living can feel daunting for Care Experienced Young People. At One Vision Housing, we are committed to ensuring this journey is as smooth and supportive as possible. That’s why we are thrilled to introduce our new service, Roots, designed to provide extra support during this pivotal time.

Developed in close collaboration with Sefton Care Experienced Service, our Independent Living Team have been working hard to create this new service. This service is specifically for Care Experienced Young People who are preparing to leave care. seeking additional guidance as they establish their Independence.

We are already witnessing the positive impact of this dedicated support. Our new Care Experienced Young Persons Support Officer has already had a positive impact on ten Care Experienced Young people who live with us.

How do we support?

Develop plans: We provide support before and after they leave care through developing plans to support their aspirations and put down Roots in their new homes.
Transition Advice and Guidance: Offering support, advice and guidance on all aspects of Independent Living. This includes tenancy queries, budgeting, employment and training.
Collaboration: We will work in partnership with agencies to ensure that the right support is given at the right time.

Creating a Place to Truly Call Home

Moving to Independent Living can sometimes mean having a house but lacking the essential items that truly make it a home. Starting out without these necessities can feel overwhelming, especially without a strong support system available.

That’s why, through Roots, we are dedicated to providing essential households items. Our starter packs contain bedding and kitchen equipment, blinds, carpets as well as white goods. Our aim is to help make their new house feel like a comfortable and welcoming space that they can call ‘home’.
