Maintaining your home: Stock Condition Surveys

Published: 1/3/2025

We pride ourselves on providing quality, affordable homes for our customers. To ensure they are maintained to a safe and decent standard it is necessary for us to carry out regular Stock Conditions Surveys.

In order to prepare you for your next Stock Condition Survey, we’re here to provide more information on the process and to introduce you to our dedicated team of surveyors, ensuring you feel informed and reassured.

What are Stock Condition Surveys?

Our surveyors will look at the condition of the kitchen, bathroom, windows, roof, loft (if applicable) and more to determine when improvement works are required. This visit ensures your home is maintained to a safe and decent standard.

This survey takes less than an hour to complete. To document the condition of the property, our surveyors’ take photographs of both the inside and outside of the property. We do not need anything from you during the visit other than allowing us access to your home.

What happens next?

We will only contact you after the visit if improvement works are required.

Stock Condition Surveys are carried out every five years and you will receive an appointment through the post when yours is due. If this date is not suitable, the appointment can be rescheduled at a time to suit.

It is important that surveys are conducted on time to ensure homes are maintained to a safe and decent standard. So please make sure you are home for your appointment.

The importance of allowing access

Allowing access to our surveyors means they can determine if any improvements are required to your home. Without this survey issues could be overlooked, affecting our ability to carry out effective repairs.

Under the terms of your tenancy agreement, you must allow us access to the property. Failure to do so could result in legal action being taken and court costs may be recharged to the customer.
