Creating opportunities with Everton in the Community

To mark the end of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness week, One Vision Housing is delighted to spotlight our collaboration with Everton in the Community to create a better future for our youth in Netherton.
Discussions with these young individuals identified education, diversionary activities, better relationships with the police and raising awareness of Anti-Social Behaviour as areas of improvement. To combat these issues EITC staff organised workshops to better the understanding of ASB, its effects, and life experiences related to the topic.
Inspired by these conversations, EITC created a dedicated sub-group to act as a youth voice with their local police. Following their visit to Merseyside HQ, the relationship positively improved. This collaboration aims to enhance communication and understanding, in hopes to reduce anti-social behaviour.
As a result of the group’s expressed interests, EITC organised a 4 month kayaking programme. This diversionary activity aimed to improve confidence, develop skills as well as steer the group from phones and anti-social behaviour. Starting with indoor sessions at Bootle Leisure Centre, participants have developed essential water safety skills and kayaking techniques. As their confidence and abilities grew, they transitioned to open water kayaking and kayak water polo in Collingwood Dock.
At the end of the programme, EITC offered participants further free access to facilities and equipment. This allows them to continue the hobby, pursue potential competitive opportunities and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
One Vision Housing is proud of our partnership with EITC and the positive impact it has had on the lives of these young individuals. Together, we are creating opportunities and changing lives of the young people of Netherton.
