Top tips for saving energy and reducing your energy bills:
- Turn down your main thermostat by 1 degree and you can save around £60 on your energy bill.
- Turning your appliances off standby mode can save you £35 a year.
- Save around £39 a year in the kitchen:
- use a bowl to wash-up
- reduce your washing machine use by 1 cycle a week
- and only fill the kettle with the water you need.
- Spend 1 minute less in the shower each day and a family of 4 could save £75 a year on energy and water bills.
- A water efficient shower head could save a household of 4 people around £38 a year off gas bills and around £53 a year off water bills.
- Turn your lights off when you’re not using them. It’s a small change but a great habit to get into and can save you around £15 a year on your energy bills.
- Replace your bulbs as and when you can with energy efficient LEDs – on average it could save about £40 a year on bills.
