New tenant information

Welcome to your new home with One Vision Housing!

Moving into a new home is an exciting time, and we’re here to help make sure your tenancy gets off to the best possible start. At One Vision Housing, we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way, helping you settle in and thrive in your new community.

What to expect after you sign up

Shortly after you sign up for your new home with us, we will undertake an assessment with you to establish if you need any additional support. Some of the topics we will discuss include:

  • Your finances – We’ll do an income and expenditure assessment to see if we can offer advice or help with things like Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, or a Discretionary Housing Payment. We can also help if you’re worried about an ‘under-occupation charge’ (sometimes called the bedroom tax).
  • Your tenancy history – How many addresses you have had in the past and why you have moved. This is to help you sustain your new home with us.
  • Your health and home – Questions about your health help us ensure your new home is, or can be made, as suitable and comfortable for you as possible.
  • Your essential items – We’ll check if you have essential items like a bed, other furniture, or white goods (like a fridge or washing machine).

Every question we ask is there for a reason: to give you the best chance of a successful tenancy and ensure you’re happy living with us.

How we can support you

Depending on the outcome of your assessment, we might tailor our support to your individual needs. This could include:

  • More frequent visits – We might arrange to visit you monthly during your starter tenancy period to see how you’re getting on.
  • Regular check-ins – We may give you a weekly call to chat about your progress and address any concerns.
  • Claiming benefits – We can help you navigate the process of claiming Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, or a Discretionary Housing Payment if you need them.
  • Emergency support – For short-term needs, we have food and energy vouchers available.
  • Home essentials – We can also offer support with essential items for your home, such as curtains, flooring, white goods, and furniture. We aim to help everyone we can!
