Meet the Chair of the Scrutiny Team
The Chair of our Customer Scrutiny Team, Pamela Holliday talks about how she got involved in Scrutiny and what she enjoys about the role.
How long have you been an OVH customer?
I have been a tenant for the past 10 years.
Why did you get involved in the Scrutiny Team?
Back in 2010, I saw an article in the InVision magazine asking if anyone would like to become an Involved Customer. It was something I was interested in, as I have always been active in many projects and committees over the years, and having time on my hands, I thought putting these skills to good use would be enjoyable and help make a difference.
After I got in touch with OVH, I was then contacted by a member of the Customer Empowerment Team and we discussed my interests and availability.
What does being the Chair involve?
As the Chair, I co-ordinate with team members to ensure the smooth running of our meetings, keeping the questions and answers relevant to each particular scrutiny. Also if there is a deadlock in voting, I have the deciding vote.
To prepare and support me for the role, I was given training by OVH and their help has been invaluable.
What do you enjoy about being part of the Scrutiny Team?
I like being part of a dedicated team, who are enthusiastic, all working towards the goal of improving services for fellow OVH customers and the way OVH operates.
Of all the Scrutiny Team’s achievements, which are you most proud of?
Having carried out 13 scrutinies, it is difficult to choose which one I am most proud of, as they all have been very successful, but one of the most outstanding scrutinies is our scrutiny of the gas service, which at the time was sub-contracted out.
It became obvious during our investigation that the only way for OVH to have control and run the service effectively, and economically, would be to bring the service in house. This recommendation was accepted, and the gas service delivered by Sovini Property Services has run efficiently ever since.
