Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
A Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) is an extra payment to help people who claim housing benefit and are struggling to pay the rent. Your council may award you a DHP if you’re affected by the bedroom tax or benefit cap, or if you can’t afford to pay a tenancy deposit.
Each council has it’s own form/application process:
If you would like to apply for a DHP from Sefton Council, you can apply online here: https://forms.sefton.gov.uk/dhpehpform/
If you live in Liverpool you can download their DHP application form here: http://liverpool.gov.uk/benefits-and-grants/housing-benefits/discretionary-housing-payments/
If you live in Wirral you can download their DHP application form here: http://www.wirral.gov.uk/benefits-money/housing-benefit/discretionary-housing-payments#wgSM-3
