At One Vision Housing, we are committed to enhancing the environment through our operations wherever possible, and minimising any negative impact.

In order to achieve our aims we set challenging targets, within the constraints of our business plan, to improve our environmental performance and commit to reducing our organisational and resident’s adverse impact on the environment by:

  • Investing in improvements in the energy efficiency of existing properties, with an aim of alleviating fuel poverty for our residents and increasing the average energy efficiency Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) ratings of our properties
  • Assist residents in realising benefits through energy and water saving alleviation
  • Encourage the installation of water saving devices
  • Reduce the levels of energy consumption in all our offices year on year
  • Reduce the levels of water consumption in all our offices year on year
  • Increase the volume of recycled materials year on year
  • Reduce our carbon footprint year on year
  • Achieve the ISO 14001 standard in Environmental Management

Here’s a summary of some of the things we’ve done in the last year:

  • Reduced the organisation’s carbon footprint by 10% for 2011/12 compared to 2010/11
  • Reduced our electricity consumption at our offices and communal areas by almost 30% last year using NEBI energy systems and Smart Meter, which track energy usage at half hour intervals to identify peaks and troughs in usage
  • Recycled 13 tonnes of cardboard and waste paper at our officeslast year, the equivalent of saving 230 trees
  • 71% of commercial waste from our offices was diverted from landfill last year
  • Over 80% of construction waste is recycled
  • We have an affordable warmth advisor who visits vulnerable tenants and advises them how they can save energy and improve the emergency efficiency of their properties
  • Won a community development Best Garden competition
