Energy Performance Certificates

Since 1st October 2008 the provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) has been compulsory for all properties made available through choice based lettings.

The Energy Performance Certificate is similar to the labels now provided with domestic appliances, such as refrigerators and washing machines where ratings range from A-G (A being very efficient and G being very inefficient).

Its purpose is to record how energy efficient a property is as a building. As all EPC’s are produced using standard methods, properties can be easily compared with each other.

How does this benefit me?

If you are a prospective customer you can view the information on the EPC to consider energy efficiency and fuel costs which will help you make more informed decisions.

Current customers can ask to view their EPC by contacting us.

Looking forward

An EPC is always accompanied by a recommendation (such as low and zero carbon generating systems) to improve the energy rating of the building. The certificate also tells you the rating that could be achieved if all the recommendations were implemented.

As a landlord we are always looking at ways to improve energy efficiency as part of our ongoing property improvement investment programme. If you want to get involved, you can join our Customer Voice Group.
